Man Utd position themselves to sign “top striker” after 23-goal season

Manchester United are working hard to secure arrivals for Ruben Amorim and have now set their sights on a prolific striker that they could try to tempt to Old Trafford, according to a report.

Manchester United continue Bryan Mbeumo pursuit

Bryan Mbeumo is the Red Devils’ chief target after securing Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, and it appears progress has been made in the hunt for the Brentford man’s signature.

Recently, Manchester United saw a second bid of £62.5 million turned down for the Cameroon international. However, talks are continuing and there is hope at Old Trafford that he can become their second arrival of the summer transfer window.

David Ornstein has confirmed Mbeumo only wants to join the Red Devils despite Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in his services.

He stated on X: “Bryan Mbeumo has told Brentford & Tottenham he will only join Manchester United if he leaves Brentford this summer. #MUFC proposals £45m+£10m & £55m+£7.5m; still short of #BrentfordFC valuation – talks ongoing. #THFC deny making any offer.”

With that saga bubbling away in the background, Manchester United are ready to submit an offer for Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi believed to sit at around the £43 million mark.

Andre Onana’s precarious form has emboldened Amorim to look elsewhere in search of a new number one, and the Italy Under-21 international could fit the bill while staying within the financial parameters available to the club.

Plenty of optimism is starting to creep in among Manchester United supporters after a torrid campaign last time out, and they could be about to take their excitement up a notch if their latest target is anything to go by.

Manchester United turn attention to Tolu Arokodare

According to TBR, Manchester United have Genk striker Tolu Arokodare on their radar after his excellent campaign in Belgium that saw him claim the Jupiler Pro League golden boot.

Across all competitions, the Nigeria international registered 23 goals and seven assists in 45 matches, and he has been profiled by Red Devils’ scouts, who are said to have liked what they saw from the Festac-born man.

It could be a busy summer ahead of Ruben Amorim’s first full season in charge.

Earning plenty of plaudits, Arokodare has been labelled a “top striker” by Thorsten Fink and the Red Devils’ pursuit of the hitman is said to be one to watch as the window progresses.

Becoming a livewire in and around the penalty area, the prolific forward has managed to direct 52 of his 158 shots on target while on league duty and could become a viable option should other targets fall through.

A more left-field target when compared to the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko, Arokodare could also be a much cheaper one – with reports suggesting he’s valued at around £20 million.

Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee both struggled in front of goal for Manchester United last term, so it is paramount Amorim brings in some firepower to bolster his forward line.

Arokodare has also been called a “huge talent” by members of the media.
